Irish Brew Pubs

Some of Ireland’s craft brewers only sell their brews in their own pubs, so you need to go to the Franciscan Well pub in Cork to try their excellent brews. (13b North Mall, Tel: (021) 439 3434, Brewery: (021) 421 0130, franciscanbrewery.com).

Whilst in Dublin you have to visit both The Porterhouse, (16 Parliament St, D2, Tel: (01) 679 8847) and Messrs Maguire, (Burgh Quay, Tel: (01) 670 5777 Fax: 6705500, messrsmaguire.ie) as their brews are draught only. In Thurles, you need to check out the stylish Dwan’s Brew pub, just down from the main square.

Don’t worry, though: you’ll find such visitations aren’t too much of a hardship. (Thurles Tel: (0504) 26007, dwan.ie)
