What’s to like? “Friendly owners, amazing decor, novelty of a different room each time (but in a tasteful, worthwhile way), fabulous breakfast, lovely location and views, proximity to town while yet being on a quiet road.” That’s a pretty daunting list of USPs for one house, but Paddy and Julia Foyle are pretty out-of-the-box people. We have known them, and have written about them, for almost twenty years, but truthfully we feel we scarcely
know even the tiniest fraction about them, so capacious are their skills and so potent their originality. They don’t need a page in a book, they need a biography. Each. But the comment about the “different room” is truly telling, for Mr Foyle has decorated each room in a wild, original and unique way, and yet he manages to make each room as comfortable, beautifully unified and complete as each other. Genius, really: no other word will do.
