Martin McCaffrey’s famous pub has a brand new wine shop, with over 600 bottles on the shelves, in the centre of this meandering, comfy pub, and you can buy a bottle and take it into either the pub or into the restaurant, where there is some serious cooking taking place, thanks to chef Damien Grey. | |
This is cheffy work: oxtail tartlet; scallops with piperade; oysters tempura; fillet of beef with chorizo hash brown, tarte tatin, but it’s well accomplished and value is keen. Do note that Sunday lunch is strictly first-come, first-served. |
