It is always fascinating to see someone becoming a
player. By “player” we mean someone who matters, who makes an original contribution in their field, who articu- lates a philosophy and who can express it in their work.

We have known Caroline Rigney for a couple of years now, and she is becoming a player. In fact, Mrs Rigney is becoming a player on two fronts: as a superb B&B keeper in her farmhouse, and as a producer of some of the finest pork products you will find in Ireland. “Farmhouse” is perhaps a slightly misleading term, for this is actually a rather grand house, though there are lots of lovely rare-breed animals wandering around the fields, and there is a splendid farmshop from where Mrs Rigney retails her brilliant Curraghchase pork. That pork, of course, is the mainstay of lovely breakfasts,
and there is tea and home baking when you, the weary traveller, arrive here at Curraghchase. We will be hearing much more from Mrs Rigney, have no doubt about that, but right now she is doing just fine, thanks very much.
