“In spite of the weather we have managed to press apple juice from the earlier varieties in the orchard (Worcester Pearmain, James Grieve and Sheep Snout) and make plum and damson jam so we will again have home produced apple juice and jam for guests. | |
"Our first Moile bullock is nearly ready for the butcher, so with any luck we will have some good rare breed beef as well.” Isn’t that a lovely note of good tidings from Christopher Kelly of Lough Bishop house, this most handsome, hand-restored farmhouse in Colinstown? A glass of Sheep Snout juice for breakfast! Plum and damson jam on your toast! A day touring the countryside, then back for dinner of Moile beef – one of the original Irish breeds, and as rare as hen’s teeth these days. Bring it on! Bring it on! The Kellys run the most lovely house, and they run it with care and circumspection. It has the lovely feeling of being deep in the middle of nowhere, a true rural escape, a true farmhouse, and it’s the kind of house where other guests are instantly your new best friends. Blissful. |
