“Have just returned from our trip and feel you should check this one out for B/B: Lough Bishop House. They also do an evening meal. This is a beautiful restored farm house with lovely accommodation and good food. The food includes their own free range eggs, their own pressed apple juice (to die for) their own bee hives, their own sheep and some rare breed cattle. | |
They are genial hosts, Helen and Chris Kelly, and we loved our stay with them.” So, having received such an enthusiastic encomium, we set off to Lough Bishop to see if it could all be true. And it is. Lough Bishop is a great house, but it is the distinctive, free-spirited natures of Helen and Chris that make this a special place. They keep beautiful Moilie cattle. They have restored their 1740 farmhouse from a ruin – you really have to see the book of photos. They cook lovely food, and it’s the sort of place where other guests quickly become your best friends. Okay, so you do have to open a big red farm gate to get in, but that is the only problem with this delightful new destination. |
