Getting it Right
Ireland's first "Wine Hotel"!

The new rooms of the Wineport Lodge, Ireland's first "wine hotel" at Glasson in County Westmeath, are now open, and if you are a stressed out city slave, you need to know about this little piece of heaven.
All ten rooms have a verandah, and look out on Lough Ree. An early breakfast, wrapped in your big, comfy dressing gown, as you sit on the verandah and watch the birds and absorb the peace and quiet, is some sort of sublime bliss indeed. Lapping water. The moored barge. Silence. Silence. Silence. Aaaahh.
The rooms are superbly achieved, both stylish, private and romantic, and the public space downstairs is beautifully realised. Of course, we knew Ray Byrne and Jane English would get it right, but they have got it right with a bang; this is a key new destination, and you will have to book well in advance, for it's only 90 minutes from the big smoke, and destined to be THE 2002 destination for everyone.
