Interesting to see the article about Portobello (Feb Megabytes) where I am living now. Isn't it interesting how ethnic food has figured in this area over time? My memories from childhood around here include not only the kosher Bretzel bakery but also the final few of many kosher Jewish butchers shops around Clanbrassil Street. Now its other ethnic groups who have colonising the area. What richness that you just don't get in the Spar or Centra. If you're in the area, do tapas in Havana, one of my favourite coffee stops within walking distance.

Please could you let me know when your new Bridgestone 100 Best Guides are published. I am planning to take a weekend away from Dublin in early May to celebrate my wife's birthday, and I badly need your most up-to-date info.

*Thanks George, we're glad you asked that question! The books have been printed in Spain this year, which has held their publication up slightly. But the good news is that they will be in the shops at the end of this month, and our official launch date is 7th May. We've loads of new entries in this month's books - more than 20% of new entries in the 100 Best Restaurants 2002, and plenty of new discoveries to try. We've also added colour maps to the interior pages, which we hope will make the books even more user friendly - and we've kept the price low - only €10 for all that info and Aoife Wasser's groovy illustrations!
