Stay Tuned: Food Lovers Update
Slow Weekend
You will have read about it here and there, but it bears repeating that the first Slow Food Ireland national weekend was a rip-roaring success. Extraordinary foods, mighty craic, great expeditions, and we would just like to mention one episode as an example of the sort of stellar success achieved by all involved: one of the restaurants visited on Saturday afternoon was Otto and Hilda Kunze's Otto's Creative Catering, at beautiful Butlerstown.
The foods sourced and cooked by Mr Kunze were a revelation: the amazing nettle soup; the unbelievable sea spinach and goat's cheese lasagne; the gob-smacking deliciousness of the rhubarb gratin with custard (yes, awesome rhubarb and custard). Before Otto gave a short talk about his culinary philopsophy, an amazing thing happened: all forty or so guests spontaneously stood and gave Otto and Hilda a standing ovation. That was the sort of magic floating around throughout the weekend.
