The New Bridgestone Guides
"It's
five years since the Bridgestone Irish Food Guide appeared in a single volume
and let's hope another half-decade doesn't elapse before we get the next edition
of this bible of restaurants, food and wine shops, markets and food producers".
Marie-Claire
Digby, The Irish Times
The new Bridgestone Irish Food Guide is our attempt to paint a picture of the contemporary gastronomic culture of Ireland and, at over 400 pages, it is proof of just how vibrant and dynamic that food culture is at present.
Since the last single-edition appeared in 1999, the biggest engine for development has been the new Farmer's Markets, and we are delighted to see many new markets sprouting up here and there, many of them supported by local councils and local authorities, bodies who now recognise that in a post-CAP world, farm-gate innovations are vital.
The
Bridgestone 100 Best Guides, 2005
There are more than 20 new restaurant
entries in the Bridgestone 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland 2005, and more
than a dozen new places to stay in the companion volume, The Bridgestone 100
Best Places to Stay in Ireland 2005. Our editors have been busy winkling out
fun, creative, exciting new places, and from Kilkbrittan's The Glen to Temple
Bar's Ho Sen, here are the best places to eat and stay. We have been especially
pleased this year to see a new wave of energy in some of our best country houses,
and we are more than happy to see the arrival of more and more Road map menus,
those gorgeous documents that not only entice you with what they offer, but which
also give you a snapshot of the place in which you are eating. See the Menu
of the Month for more on this.
