Carol's Clarence

Clarence Hotel

"I wanted to choose a special hotel for my husband's 40th birthday celebration" This is reader Carol McIlroy's review of her experiences in Dublin's Clarence Hotel.

I wanted to choose a special hotel for my husband's 40th birthday celebration. Consulting the Bridgestone Guide (I really did, honest!), I logged on to The Clarence website. The friendly, attentive reservations supervisor Vanessa promptly answered all my queries, and this was just the start of the impeccable service we enjoyed during our stay.

The Clarence's newly redesigned website reflected this stylish hotel. We were greeted in our room with a bottle of champagne and a note from the management a nice touch. Every detail in the room had been considered for the utmost comfort and relaxation and we really loved the leather chairs, beautiful wooden furniture and tables with stone slabs. It really appealed to my environmental side! My husband did find the Octagon Bar a bit bare for his taste and said the lighting was weird, but that didn't stop us enjoying our drinks.

Dinner in The Tea Room was a real delight. The room itself is vibrant and the food wonderful with some of the most perfectly prepared seafood we've had in Ireland. My husband's favourite was breakfast he's a real Eggs Benedict fan and he said they were the best he'd ever had.

The hotel is right in the Temple Bar area so we enjoyed a few pleasant hours strolling around taking in the atmosphere. Our stay was brought to a great close when the valet at the valet parking filled up our car to save us driving around looking for a petrol station. It was a memorable stay and we'll definitely return. They offer special breaks on their website so I'll be checking in regularly.
