Now's
The Time
Stop promising yourself that this will be the year when you will take that first step towards knowing more about wine, and just get yourself down to Erik Robson's super Ely Wine Bar, on Dublin's Ely Place, where Gerry Gunnigan will be hosting a series of wine appreciation classes for six weeks commencing on Tuesday 30th january at 7.30pm.
"This is a natural association for Ely", says Erik Robson. "People who enjoy wine want to learn about the production, the family estate and the grape varieties of our more popular bottles".
Six different wines will be tasted each evening, with supper afterwards. Places are limited, so don't delay: contact Erik on (01) 676 8986.
Transgenic
Wine
Those who responded to the Slow Food Campaign to lobby Snr Prodi in respect of transgenic wine were not alone. This was one of many of the responses we receved after last month's stop press megabytes:
'Passed this on to all the usual suspects, including my Mother, who passed it on to all of hers. Anyhow, one of her contacts lives down the road from Snr Prodi's office and is now taking e-mailed letters and stuffing them through his letterbox. Surprising what comes out of e-mails isn't it?"
At time of going to Press we do not know the result of the meeting, but take it as read that we will keep you informed.
