Cult Success

cook books

A big pat on the back for Cork¹s Denis Cotter, chef-patron of the city's sublime Café Paradiso, whose cookery book, imaginatively titled "The Café Paradiso Cookbook" made the shortlist for the U.K. Guild of Food Writers annual awards, for the prestigious Jeremy Round Award.

Cotter's magnificent book is now recognised for the cult classic it is: in London's Books for Cooks specialist bookshop, the Café Paradiso Cookbook has actually been their best selling title of 1999, and it has now gone into a reprint. "It even gets us carnivores dribbling over various vegetable concoctions" writes Rosie Kindersley of Books For Cooks. Cotter was joined on the shortlist by Sally Clarke's fine cookery book (which has already won the Glenfiddich Prize this year) and by Sara Jayne Stanes "Chocolate: The Definitive Guide", the book which was awarded the prize.
