World Pub Lunch Awards

Padraic Frawley and Darina Allen

Congratulations to Padraic Frawley of Aubars in Thomas Street, Limerick, who has just become the first ever overall winner of the Club Orange/Licensing World Pub Lunch Awards.

Darina Allen presented Padraic with his gong, and the standard of the competition he beat off testifies to amazingly high standards, for fine operations such as Finin's of Midleton, The Douglas Hyde of Cork and the wonderful Vaughan's of Kilfenora had to be content with second place.

Well done to them all, and let's hope the day of the pub meal lasagne which could be microwaved 7 separate times (we're not making this up!) is already a thing of the past.

Here are details of all the monthly winners of the competition:

Vaughan's Pub, Kilfenora, Co. Clare
Cronin's Bar & Off-Licence, Crosshaven, Co. Cork
Christy's Pub, Main Street, Arklow, Co. Wicklow
The Douglas Hide, Douglas Street, Cork
Finn's Bar & The Milestone, William Street, Limerick
Poole's Porterhouse, Main St, Gorey, Co. Wexford
Toher's 18 Dunlo Street, Ballinasloe, Co Galway
Gingerman, Arundel Lane, Waterford City
Finin's Bar, Midleton, Co. Cork.
