Competition!

A Dealer Near You

Win a set of brand new Bridgestone Tyres from your local Bridgestone Tyre dealer!

We are pleased, this issue, to offer a competition in association with First Stop, the network of professional, local, independent tyre dealers providing Bridgestone tyres to motorists. Our association with Bridgestone Tyres goes way back to 1991, when we brought the idea of linking up probably the smallest publishing house in Ireland with the largest tyre and rubber manufacturer in the world. Since then Bridgestone have supported us annually, and they also sponsor Megabytes - so all readers are especially welcome to enter this special competition, which we are hosting to celebrate the new 2002 Bridgestone Guides.

All you have to do is this. Go into http://www.firststop-eu.com then give us your address and tell us - What is the name of the First Stop Tyre Centre in Cork? Click here to submit your answer

As to last month's competitions, many thanks to all those of you who competed - you folks know a good droop of whiskey when you drink it, don't you! One person we had to give a prize to was Frank Mitchell of Dublin, who wrote us this poem:

Undeterred I am by my lack of success,
In last months competition held by yerselves.
So I've decided to write, Come what may
Even though it may seem like a waste of my day.
Bridgestone has provided two lovely prizes;
Each one appealing to my own personal vices.
Although I have heard of the lovers at Versailles
The answer to 'tother brings a tear to my eye.
Half my life I spent learning my own native tongue,
And for the answer you must see how my lines have begun.

A bottle of Jameson Gold is winging its way to you Frank, and the other lucky winners who promptly dispatched the correct answer were: Carmel Clifford, also from Dublin; Grainne Hogan from Galway, Niamh Ahern from Cork, and Patricia O'Neill from Edenderry in Co Offaly.

The voucher for dinner for two in the brilliant 101 Talbot restaurant goes to Orlaith Mannion from Dublin.

The answers were, of course, Lovers at Versaille and Uisce Beatha.
