Weekend Away

And what sort of a weekend should you plan if taking time out down at Dungarvan?
For us, the ideal weekend would go something like this: Friday dinner in Powersfield as you de-stress and decide you will have that extra bottle of wine.
Saturday morning: off to the Farmer's Market at Midleton, and then lunch in the excellent O'Donovan's pub, on the main street of the town, where the cooking is quite inspired. We had a breast of chicken stuffed with a thyme mash here recently, and it was only ace, not least the lovely carrot and parsnip mash served with it which was sublime.
Dinner on Saturday means a trip down into Dungarvan to eat at The Tannery, where Paul Flynn's amazing cooking is amongst the best in Ireland. Sunday, then, off to Ring, in the Gaeltacht region, for a long lazy lunch in An Carn, Deuglan and Siobhan O'Reagain's excellent restaurant high on the hill.
Now, don't you feel a whole lot better just thinking about that? Believe us, it's all happening in Waterford these days.
