One of the key suppliers for the Avoca Café chain (see the review of their new book, below) are Donegal's wonderful Filligan's company, perhaps better known as Sarah and Philip Moss. Sarah and Philip make a range of chutneys and preserves for Avoca, as well as some splendid carrot and Dundee cakes. But they also sell under their own label, Filligan¹s, so look out in good delis for their exceptional products. Our current favourite is the smashing red pepper chutney, which has a trace of chilli that gives it a neat edge and which is superb in sandwiches and with cold meats and chicken. "Chutneys are our passions", they admit, and Filligan's are amonst the best you can get. In Sligo you will find them in Kate's Kitchen; in Carrick-on-Shannon in Cheese & Co; in Holywood in Panini; in the Douglas Food Store and the Good Food Store in Dublin and also in Sheridan's Cheesemongers.
