Dear John and Sally (They seek him here, they seek him there! )

Do you know where Stephan Matz is cooking? We came to Erriseask once again to have his wonderful food, and learned that he is now in Dublin. Thank you!

* The mighty Mr Matz is currently guesting as chef in the Portmarnock Golf and Country Club, in north county Dublin, ever since he and brother Christian sold Erriseask. Please note also that Erriseask, since the sale, is no longer a Bridgestone Guide address and will not be featured in October's Bridgestone Food Lover's Guides, contrary to the impression given by certain advertisements.

Dear John and Sally

While staying at the Castlemurray Hotel on St John's Point in Co Donegal at the weekend my wife and I dined in Castlemurray's own French-style speciality seafood restaurant on a couple of occasions over the weekend and had spectacularly good food in, particularly from the inside, excellent surroundings. The value for money (4 course dinner from £24 to £28 (or £33 for lobster main course) or 4 course Sunday lunch for £14.50) was outstanding. Would Castlemurray be a contender for the next edition of your Guide, either the accommodation or the restaurant guide? Kind regards, Kieran Conlon

*Hi Kieran, many thanks for your comments. Castlemurray was a staple of our books both restaurant and accommodation guides ever since it opened. But, when a place goes on the market, we have no choice but to take it out, as circumstances can change so quickly (as happened this year with Erriseask in Connemara). Castlemurray has been on the market for a few years now, so unfortunately we couldn't really include it, but we have always been great admirers: Thierry is a fine cook, and the views are amazing. Happy eating! John McKenna
