John and Julie Finn have taken over the reins at the charmingly quixotic Dillon's, long one of West Cork's best destinations.
They've been jammers since they opened, selling morning coffees with home-made scones, informal lunches and smart dinners. John is a right-on-the-money chef - the fish cookery here is sublime - and Julie was born to play the role of front of house. The restaurant has a great holiday feel that syncs sublimely with this most beautiful village. So, turn up, turn up for poached hake in white wine with champ and a wholegrain mustard and prawn cream; lamb burger with leaves and new potatoes; cod with crispy polenta and rocket; homemade apple pie. Cream with that?
