Moy House is the business. Handsome, distinctive, singular, it’s a house that unwinds its charms slowly, a quiet, unshowy destination that soon captivates you. Here is Eamon Barrett on a visit to Brid O’Meara’s house: “The more time I spent there, reading, looking out to the rough sea, helping myself to Power’s 12-year-old whiskey from the honesty bar, the more I liked it. We had a beautiful room with a built-in window seat and a fabulous bathroom. Lorge chocolates from West Cork were left in the room for us. In the evening, there were slippers and candles lighting. We had our own turf fire in the room, for goodness sake! At breakfast the next morning there was a taste of the level that Moy is pitched at with truly superb service and an excellent breakfast of scrambled egg with mushroom accompanied by really good brown bread. Staff were excellent - again that all-important welcome from Brid - and nothing we asked for was too much trouble.”
