A stone-clad, handsome house dating from the 1820’s, set just down the seaward road off the main square in Clifden, Sheila Griffin’s Sea Mist B&B is one of those houses that define the essence of Bridgestone.
How do you do that? How do you clock up the list of details that means you earn entry into a book like this? Well, one of the signifiers we look for is people who are happy to be different. So, at Sea View, there are no televisions in the bedrooms. Sheila Griffin takes the opposite point of view from those who think every room has to have a flat screen TV along with a stereo and whatnot (though WiFi is available throughout the house). Ms Griffin knows that if you are in Connemara, you should be out on the Twelve Bens, or at least enjoying her lovely garden, or relaxing in the aesthetic of her beautiful house. So, she does things differently, and we like that, just as we like the fact that she cooks with imagination and makes scrummy breakfasts, and graces her house with a cool bohemian ambience. The courage to be different: that’s Bridgestone.
